VARIOUS WOVENS. 2006-present.
Sampling with a graphic that is visually woven. Using shifted satins to enhance the texture and this concept. I think the neon thread sample is particularly successful because the sponginess of the polyester sits nicely over the slickness of the warp threads. Copyright Morgan Bajardi 2012. Jacquard woven, TC1 loom.
I was interested to see if I could visually create the illusion of dents within a textile. I was also curious to see if the graphic acting as a macro structure, would affect the final drape and behavior of the fabric.
Inspired by the static formed from visual electronic fraction. Its the moment where through the chaos of static the pieces of information begin to come together to form structure.
Appears to be static but is actually dynamic. A non repeating "repeat".
A non-repeating repeat. Working from points of stability on a grid I worked to create a dynamic repeat that has the illusion of repeating. In actuality the repeat is a fractal version of itself.
Pattern Exercise. Creating illusion preserving the visuals of two patterns which occur at the same time: feathers, wave pattern. I sampled with many wefts to see which works best visually.
I was inspired by 60's ribbon and psychedelic posters from the 1970's.
